Meditation on Matthew 14:22-33 Just as Jesus took hold of Peter and brought him back to the boat, He is also patient with us. He is always ready to rescue us into His church where He restores us with His gifts.
Jesus brings salvation to each one of us. The ultimate expression of His desire to save us came on the cross. When Jesus died, sin died with Him. When Jesus rose, He left sin in the grave where it can have no power over us.
He makes all things new. His power over the stormy seas of this life brings people from death to life. From fear, we can move to faith through His Word and Sacraments.
Remembering our baptism, we should repent daily and drown the sinful nature with all our sins. It was in the waters of baptism where we went from unbelief to faith, and from which we emerged alive and arose to praise Jesus as the Son of The Living God.
Let us pray: O Lord, almighty God, please speak to us by the voice of your Word, so that we may call upon You in the stormy seas of this life, and that we may confess Your Saving Name before all people; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
